DCist reported that Lifetime will be airing the Georgetown social scene reality show in November after Project Runway. The show will be based of the popular, elitist, invite-only, yet awesome Late Night Shots website. I was never a Laguna Beach or Hills fan, but I can’t EXPRESS how excited I am to see this LNS-based show. I could try to explain it’s appeal to me and why it’s going to be the best reality show of the young professionals, but I don’t think I would do any convincing. You either “hate it” or “love it.” I, of course, love it. Having frequented these LNSer bars during my post college stint in DC probably has something to do with my excitement. I’ll give it shot for you though.
Why I’m excited:
- Will politics be discussed? It would be very DC of them and it’s topical at the moment. I think there would be some great quotable moments. And there are not enough/any young republicans on TV.
- I have a LNS login and I can’t wait to read the reactions of the show in the forums.
- Smith Point. The best and worst bar in DC.
- The Hills : Durian :: Late Night Shots : Miracle Fruit
- Ridiculously drunk girls on TV. I can’t stress this enough; however, you might not see them unless the camera pans to the floor.
- I miss DC. Seeing it from the social perspective will be a nice reminder of a past life. If it’s the same it was three years ago, it’ll be entertaining to the unfamiliar* as well. *Assuming you like these type of reality shows.
- The so-bad-it’s-good thing.
Update: From the DC Examiner article: “Casting hasn’t been finalized, according to one source, but the primary characters — local socialites/hotties/20-somethings Katherine Kennedy, Krista Johnson and Sophie Pyle — remain on board. Johnson’s younger sister, Alexa Johnson, will also play a role in the show, most likely, although she and the show are still working out specifics. The Johnson sisters are alumnae of South Carolina’s College of Charleston, Kennedy graduated from Loyola Marymount and Pyle is taking a semester off from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.”

LNSers are popping up on every site imaginable — I just spotted a photo on http://www.uvavictimsofrape.com. That ought to make for a cool angle to the reality show!
